What is hill descent control and how does it work?
Hill descent control is a driver-assistance system that enables a car – usually an SUV – to go down a hill off-road without the driver having to use the brakes. The vehicle descends using the anti-lock braking system (ABS) to control each wheel's speed. If the car speeds up – which happens naturally, thanks to gravity – the system automatically applies the brakes to slow the car down.
